For a start, no, that’s not my real name, but a playground nickname which stuck, and with which I’ve signed my artwork for as long as I can remember...

More to the point; I’m a freelance digital illustrator living in Manchester in the UK. I mainly specialize in realistic figurative painting, although I often employ comic book styles and techniques to give the images extra kick. Fantasy, sci-fi, gothic, historical, pinup, retro and surreal material (or any combination of the above) are favourites of mine to work with, but my style is pretty flexible and can be applied to most subjects.
Stylistically, my artwork is influenced heavily by the (largely pencil, gouache and airbrush) illustration that was popular when I was growing up in the 80s and early 90s. As a kid so many magazine, film and game covers didn’t just arouse my interest but practically leapt off the shelves to pummel my senses and drag me over to them, and I never forgot the impact of work by artists such as Bob Wakelin, Glenn Fabry, Drew Struzan, Simon Bisley, Oliver Frey, Dermot Power... there’s a long list from this period, but I’ll spare you.
Even though I work digitally, I follow a similar work pattern to traditional artists in this area, and use PS brushes that I’ve designed to emulate the look and feel of these media. This gives my artwork a traditional, slightly retro look.

All of my work is drawn directly into Photoshop CS, using a WACOM Intuos 3 tablet.
